Information You Provide
- Account information: Name, email address, password, age, gender, interests, and lifestyle preferences ("vibes")
- Payment information: Card details are processed and stored by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
- Event information: Tickets purchased, events attended, and RSVP status
- Communications: Messages you send to SparkDate support
Information Collected Automatically
- Device data: Browser type, IP address, device identifiers
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, timestamps of activity
- Cookies and similar technologies: See Section 7 below
Information from Third Parties
- Stripe: Payment confirmation, subscription status, fraud signals
- Firebase: Authentication state, security alerts
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Operate and improve SparkDate
- Match you with compatible event guests
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Send transactional emails (signup, event invitations, billing receipts)
- Send marketing emails (you can opt out anytime)

- Comply with legal obligations
3. How We Share Your Information
SparkDate does not sell your personal information. We share data only as described below:
With Service Providers
- Stripe — payment processing
- Google Firebase — authentication, database hosting
- Vercel — website hosting
- Email service providers — transactional and marketing email delivery
These providers may access only the information they need to perform their function and are contractually obligated to protect your data.
With Other Members
At events, your first name and chosen interests may be shared with other attendees to facilitate introductions. Your email, last name, and payment information are never shared.
With Venues
We share guest counts and check-in lists with venue partners. We do not share member contact information with venues.
For Legal Reasons
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of members, the public, or SparkDate.
4. Your Rights
Access and Correction
You can view and update your profile information from your account settings at any time.
Deletion
You can request deletion of your account by emailing [email protected]. We will delete your data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records (e.g., transaction history for tax purposes).
California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
EU/UK Residents (GDPR)
If you are in the EU or UK, you have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding your personal data. SparkDate currently operates primarily in the United States; non-U.S. residents should be aware their data is processed in the U.S.
Marketing Opt-Out
Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link. You will continue to receive transactional emails (billing, event reminders) even after unsubscribing.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Encrypted password storage (Firebase Auth)
- PCI-compliant payment processing (Stripe)
- Access controls and audit logging
No system is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active and for up to 2 years after deletion to comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud. Marketing email opt-outs are retained indefinitely to honor your preferences.
7. Cookies and Tracking
SparkDate uses cookies and similar technologies for:
- Essential cookies: Required for the site to function (login state, security)
- Analytics cookies: Anonymous usage statistics to improve the product
- Marketing cookies: Optional, used for retargeting and conversion tracking

8. Children's Privacy
SparkDate is intended for adults age 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If we learn that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it immediately.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information is stored and processed in the United States. By using SparkDate, you consent to the transfer of your data to the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your country.

SparkDate may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their privacy policies separately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 14 days before taking effect.
